POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
  1. The power window control system controls the power window UP/DOWN function using the power window regulator motor. The main controls of this system are the power window regulator master switch, which is built into the driver side door, and the power window regulator switch, which is built into the front passenger side door.
  1. Pressing the power window regulator switch or either of the power window switches on the power window regulator master switch transmits an UP/DOWN signal to the corresponding power window regulator motor.
  2. An ECU is built into the power window regulator motor.

FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS
The power window control system consists of the following components:

Power window regulator master switch assembly
  1. Controls power window operation for all windows.
  2. When window lock switch is set to lock position, window operation will only be possible with driver side switch.
Power window regulator switch assembly
  1. Located on passenger side door.
  2. Power window regulator switch controls power window operations for its respective window.
Power window regulator motor assembly
  1. Each power window switch controls power window operations for its respective windows.
  2. Receives power window switch signals and activates motor to change window position.
  3. Uses Hall IC in regulator motor with ECU to detect window position and jamming.

SYSTEM FUNCTION
The power window control system has the following functions:

Outline
Manual UP/DOWN function
Function that raises the window while the power window switch is pulled halfway up and lowers the window while it is pushed halfway down. The window stops when the switch is released.
AUTO UP/DOWN function
Function that enables a window to be fully opened or closed by one full push or pull of the power window switch.
Remote UP/DOWN function
Function that allows the power window regulator master switch to control the passenger side power window.
Window lock function
  1. Function where the passenger side power window regulator switch operation is disabled when the window lock switch is pressed.
  2. The passenger side power window regulator switch can be operated when the window lock switch is pressed again.
Key-off operation function
  1. Using the power window regulator master switch, the power windows for both seats can be operated after the ignition switch is turned off. After the driver door is opened and closed, the power windows cannot be operated.
  2. Using the power window regulator switch, the power window for the passenger seat can be operated after the ignition switch is turned off. After the driver door is opened and closed, the power windows cannot be operated.
  3. The power windows cannot be operated if approximately 45 seconds have elapsed after turning the ignition switch off. However, if a window operation is in progress at 45 seconds, the operation will continue until the open/close operation is completed.
Jam protection function
  1. Function that automatically stops a power window and moves it downward if an object is jammed in the power window.
  2. Jam protection function works for AUTO UP and manual UP operation.
Diagnosis
  1. Function where ECU in the power window regulator motor detects malfunctions in the power window system and makes a diagnosis.
  2. The power window switch light blinks to inform the driver of the malfunction.
Fail-safe
If the pulse sensor(s) (Hall IC(s)) in the power window regulator motor malfunctions, the power window AUTO UP/DOWN function is disabled.
